Fruit Posters

The Challenge

Create a small poster referencing a specific fruit and its name.

Originally designed as screenprints, I created three posters for three different fruits. For the nopales, I sought to make the typography resemble the fruit closely while basing the letters on some Western style fonts.

I wanted the lime poster to resemble a drink being stirred with a straw, which leads directly into the letter forms. The swash above the lime slices is meant to mark the surface of the liquid, but is also in the shape of the Florida Keys in reference to the fruit's name.

For the cherry poster, I decided to reference the chocolate-covered dessert with the liquid filling spilled out and fluid, flowing type. For each direction I explored multiple color options, both what would be associated with the chosen fruit and something more unexpected.
